Campaign for parents with young children launched

As parents, we all suddenly recognize high fever, earache, vomiting, a wound or fall… All things that you can suddenly have to deal with as a parent of a young child. But what do you do when this happens at the weekend or in the evenings and your own GP is no longer available? When do you call the GP emergency station and what can you do yourself?

Parents of young children (0-4 years) often call on the GP Emergency Post, which is not always with medically urgent complaints. To offer you as a parent more support and reliable information, the Emergency Post has started a campaign. When is emergency really urgent and what can you do yourself if your child is sick?

On www.thuisarts.nl you will find reliable information about what to do when your child is sick. In many cases, you can get started with this yourself. This website gives you advice on what to do best if your child has a fever, earache or other complaints. If this advice is not sufficient, you can contact your own GP the next working day or call the GP medical station in the evening/weekend hours.
